I want to show things other than my paintings, so for this week I decided to choose my finished piece for materials class. The assignment was broken down to two pieces: 1. a plaster form and 2. a wooden form. Everything about the plaster was spontaneous, from the process to the idea, it was made by what I felt was right and nothing was premeditated, I felt completely out of my element. I'm one of those people who needs to plan things out, this was just totally weird for me. It was also hard not to think especially when I had to use power tools to shape the plaster. On the other hand the prepositional construct (wooden form) is the complete opposite. I made sure the ideas and meanings from the paster form translated perfectly into the wooden form. It was surprisingly easy to make, but a lot of planning and consulting was needed. If my friends and the instructors didn't help me, this would not have been possible, so thank you all!
