Illustrative Storytelling Midterm with Jeff Smith

A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O'Conner

548 by John Cheever

The Visitor by Thomas M. Cain

Royal Jelly by Roald Dahl

My midterm project for Illustrative Storytelling. All the pieces are inspired by Josh Cochran, the amazing Illustration alum from Art Center. I'm actually really surprised, these came out a lot better than I expected. Some pieces (like 548 and A Good Man) are drawn from little toy models while other pieces were from observation or photo reference. Really learned a lot from this project, I do prefer the toy drawn images over the photo references and I hope to use that process more in the future.
